Today I found another dime at work. They always seem to be out of plain sight for me. It's like he leaves them for me to find and nobody else. I was again vacuuming the rug at work and this time was in the break room. I usually don't vacuum the break room but it was a mess. I found the dime on the floor sort of under a cabinet - out of plain sight. And it's funny because I wasn't going to go in there but something told me to do it this morning so I did and it made my day. Thanks Grandpa Jake! Thanks for keeping me company it means the world to me.
When living at the Asbury Manor, Grandpa Jake would visit the gift store and ask for his change in dimes. He used the dimes to buy Peppermint Patties. He would leave these treats for his special friends at the Manor. Since Grandpa went to heaven, he has been showing us he is still watching over us by leaving dimes in special places.

Dimes Glorious Dimes!
I didn't get to write about the dime I found in the ladies bathroom at work about a month ago. It was a Sunday morning and I was vacuuming the rug and I saw something next to the base of the toilet and it was a dime. Jake really does have a good sense of humor!

Euro Day Spa
When I walked into work this past Sunday morning I thought I had found a dime on the floor but was disappointed when I realized that it was only a piece of paper that looked like one. "O well" I thought. About an hour later I went into the breakroom and something caught my eye on the floor again and this time it really was a dime. A nice and shiny one too. Made my day to know that Jake was there with me. Love you Grandpa Jake!

Dance Club Jake
May 30, 2010 - A good friend of mine is a DJ and invited me to her CD release party at a local dance club in downtown Orlando. She didn't go on until midnight and after working all day I took a power nap, downed some Diet Coke and got all dressed up. It's been years since I've gone to a club - seriously. Upon walking into the club something told me to look on the floor and whaddaya know - there was a dime right there for the taking! Haven't found one in months and I was super excited! Guess Jake was happy that I was out and about too!! Love you Grandpa Jake

Baby Grace
Before going into labor I was thinking to myself, I wonder if Jake will be there watching his Great-Granddaughter be born. Well my question was answered. He was with all of the family. Mommy, Daddy, Karen and Susie went out to Pete and Elda's while Grace was being born. We shared the good news that Grace has arrived and as they were leaving the restaurant there was a shiny dime on the ground. So Jake went and enjoyed some Pete and Elda's with the fam. Also, on our last night at the hospital we had just said goodbye to Mommy and Daddy. I got up from the bed and there was a shiny dime on my hospital bed. I was on the bed all day and did not see that dime there at all. It was a very special moment. I know he is with us watching over his little Gracie.

My First Presentation
Setting: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's ICU
It was 5 o clock in the morning and I was walking from my apartment to the PATH train. I was nervously studying since I knew I'd have to present a patient on rounds for the first time today. You've seen rounds, right . . . a critical-care doctor, pharmacist, nurse, med students, residents, NPs and whoever else walk by every patient in the ICU and discuss each case. Before rounds, you have 45 minutes to assess the patient, pull up lab results, and formulate a plan for the day. No pressure. Anyway, the critical-care doctor has the attention span of a six-year old, so you have to be organized, insightful, and not too wordy. So I have a sort-of a script on my phone of how to organize this and, as you can imaging, I was very focused on this since it was my first day. Now, I was barely looking at what was ahead of me let alone the ground. Then, for a second (and I mean a second), I stopped looking at my phone, and I saw a DIME! You guys, it was seriously unbelievable. I was practically crying. It was all the confidence I needed and I KICKED ASS for my presentation! The physician even agreed with my suggestions. This just doesn't happen everyday.
I love you, Grandpa Jake.

April 4th???
Today I treated myself to some potato chips at work. I usually just have my peanut butter and jelly sandwich and pear but I was still hungry. The chips were $0.70 and I put a dollar in the machine. Usually I would get a quarter and nickel back. Today when I reached in the change area there were four shiny dimes. 4.4.10??? Can it be true??? We'll have to wait and see if Jake is right. We may be having hospital food for Easter dinner. Love you Grandpa Jake. Thanks for letting us know you're looking over us.
